Welcome to Mead Mountain Outdoors
Mead Mountain Outdoors is a non-profit US Veteran support organization currently based and operating in Eastern, Maine.
Why we do it.
- Veteran suicide is at an all-time high especially amongst the Combat Veterans in our communities. Our Founder, a Combat Veteran himself unfortunately lost several of his brothers and sisters in arms to this modern age epidemic which is what brought this organization into being.
- We at Mead Mountain Outdoors hope to prevent future incidence of veteran suicide by identifying veterans struggling with injuries (physical and/or mental) and providing them with free of charge outdoor adventures.
- Hunting, Fishing and other forms of food acquisition skills seem to "scratch a primal itch" that many Veterans benefit from.
- The sense of purpose and camaraderie gained through group outdoor activities date back to the early evolution of humans and have been proven to help decrease the severity of depression, anxiety, insomnia and PTSD.
- Not everyone lives in rural Maine and road blocks to these activities are more prevalent than ever in Modern America. Mead Mountain Outdoors hopes to clear that obstacle for any Veteran that would like to take part in an outdoor adventure.
